Case Studies
GCore Construction
Before, During, After Series
We partnered with GCore Construction, a leading remodel and addition specialist based in Georgia’s Golden Isles, to produce a series of “Before, During, and After” walkthrough videos. These detailed case studies document the transformation of existing homes—capturing the original structure, the buildout process, and the final reveal—to showcase GCore’s craftsmanship and attention to detail.
To enhance each story, we incorporated dynamic drone footage to highlight not only the impressive transformations but also the beauty and lifestyle potential of the surrounding coastal environment. On the ground, we used a cinema camera to capture rich, expressive visuals that reflect the quality of the work. Each video was carefully color graded to mirror the real-life tones and textures of the finished spaces, offering viewers an authentic and engaging experience.
These walkthroughs now serve as a trusted sales and marketing asset for GCore—helping the company demonstrate its process, inspire potential clients, and stand out in a competitive market.
Student Success:
Every Student, Every Time
Overview
Andie Cordona, a recent graduate with a biology major at the College of Coastal Georgia, is turning classroom learning into real-world conservation impact. Through hands-on research, cutting-edge lab work, and a field internship that grew into a leadership role, Andie’s experience is proof of what’s possible when education is rooted in place-based science and supported by dedicated faculty.
Real Science with Real Species
As part of her studies, Andie has worked with key migratory bird species along Georgia’s coast — including red knots, American oystercatchers, least terns, Wilson’s plovers, piping plovers, and royal terns. These species depend on intact, well-monitored ecosystems, and Andie is helping ensure they remain viable.
“We’re often the last stop for hundreds — if not thousands — of miles. Making sure these birds have safe, undisturbed places to rest and refuel is vital to their survival.”
Through her internship, Andie took the lead in conducting bird population surveys along East Beach on St. Simons Island — surveys once led by senior staff, now entrusted to her due to her skill and field experience.
A Launchpad for Conservation Careers
Andie’s story demonstrates how student-led research and local partnerships empower undergraduates to contribute to real environmental solutions. She started her internship in the summer and was asked to continue through the fall migration season.
“Now I get to track phenological changes in bird coloration and behavior. Watching their shift from breeding plumage to fall patterns has been amazing.”
Her work supports bird conservation efforts on Georgia’s barrier islands and feeds into state and regional data that influence environmental management practices.
Advanced Tools, Unforgettable Experiences
At Coastal, Andie has:
-
Used high-end chemistry and lab equipment for environmental testing
-
Designed and executed her own experiments
-
Traveled to natural history museums in Florida
-
Performed water quality testing in field sites across Glynn County
-
Collaborated with state agencies and nonprofits
“Every experience has been a different kind of fun — and none of it feels like work. I’m learning, but I’m also doing what I love.”
Networking That Matters
Through the Coastal Science Symposium, a student research conference hosted by the college, Andie met conservation professionals from the Georgia Shorebird Alliance and One Hundred Miles. That connection led directly to her internship.
“If you had told me a year ago that I’d be running bird surveys on St. Simons Island, I wouldn’t have believed it. But it all started at that symposium. Attend events. You never know what doors they’ll open.”
The College of Coastal Georgia Advantage
Andie’s experience reflects what makes Coastal unique:
-
Hands-on research from day one
-
Faculty who invest in student success
-
Partnerships with real-world conservation organizations
-
Access to diverse coastal ecosystems just minutes from campus
“I can’t imagine studying anywhere else. Coastal Georgia has given me the tools, opportunities, and confidence to do what I love — and make a difference doing it.”
College is Better by the Beach
Overview
The College is Better by the Beach campaign was a dream project come true. As an alumnus of the College of Coastal Georgia, I’d always imagined what a true commercial for the school could look like—something vibrant, personal, and grounded in the real student experience. This project gave me the opportunity to bring that vision to life.
Approach
Because I knew the school inside and out, preproduction felt like reconnecting with an old friend. I understood the heart of the college—the tight-knit atmosphere, the easy access to professors, the way friendships form naturally in and out of the classroom.
We decided that the best way to tell this story was through the voices of the people who lived it every day. So, we captured 10 interviews with students, faculty, and alumni. Each one offered a different perspective, but all carried the same message: Coastal Georgia offers connection, opportunity, and a backdrop like no other.
Production
We filmed across campus—from the quiet of the library to the buzz of student life, and yes, just a few miles from the beach. Every shot was designed to reflect the unique balance of academic focus and laid-back coastal living. Our interviews brought authenticity, while carefully crafted b-roll stitched it all together into a cohesive, emotionally resonant campaign piece.
Outcome
The final video became a flagship piece for the college’s admissions and marketing team. It gave prospective students a clear and genuine look into life at Coastal, and it gave me the chance to give back to the community that shaped my own path.
This wasn’t just a project. It was personal—and that made it better in every way.
College of Coastal Georgia Environmental Science Brand Video
“The video has helped us a lot - so far our fall 2023 percentage of applied students that are enrolling is up over 30% where it had been 25% last year (this is a strong improvement because we also have more applicants than last year),” Dr. Deemy says.
A couple years ago, we met with the Environmental Sciences program professors Dr. Tagaki, Dr. Maclahan, and Dr. Deemy because they were interested in an explainer video for their burgeoning program. Only a few years ago, they had five students. Now, with over 100 students, they have become a pillar at the College of Coastal Georgia and epitomize the college’s mantra, College is Better by the Beach.
So, in the early conversations with them, I quickly understood they wanted a video that summarizes the program concisely in 2-3 minutes. That’s less work for them to do over the long run. This video would be the first impression for prospective students.
We identified key areas to cover information-wise:
-
Field work is a huge component of the class work. If College is Better by the Beach, it’s because you can literally study the beach (among other coastal low country ecosystems).
-
The program is so fun. Often the field work is out in nature, and there are many opportunities to go to Sapelo Island and other parts of Georgia and even Florida to do fun things like caving, hiking, scuba diving, engaging field work, and more.
-
You will get graduate level and career ready experience. The program will give you the tools for success: over 90% of alumni are employed in ENVS careers. That’s a staggering fact.
To encapsulate the above, we created a list of materials we needed:
-
Alumi and student testimonials
-
Professor interviews
-
Field work footage
-
Archival field trip footage
I worked closely with Dr. Takagi, Dr. Mac, and Dr. Deemy, and over the course of a few weeks, collected all the interviews, shot some fieldwork footage, collected field trip footage, and I also drew from my extensive library of coastal landscape b-roll footage.
The Edit
When dealing with a sophisticated message, I will watch the interviews and generate the transcripts that I put into a Microsoft Word document. I sit on the document over the course of a few days and get rid of a lot of words. This is my writing process in creating videos: I read over the transcript and make the most compelling message possible out of the interviews.
Once the script is created, I go through Premiere Pro, my editing software, and cut the a-roll (interview) footage together. When the message is there, that’s when I add in b-roll and find the right music that complements the message.
The Result
After creating the video, where were we going to put it? Obviously, the website and social media are important areas to put such a video. The online presence of the video has hyped up the program greatly, but there was an in-person opportunity to play the video. The goal from the beginning of creating this video was to play it at the ENVS Program Shrimp Boil in February 2024, a fundraising dinner on the Coastal Georgia Rooftop with many partners from the local community. This combination of online and in-person has had clear results.
